The first weekend I was in Bristol I decided to take a day trip over to Bath, England. Everyone always raves about Bath and seeing as it's on almost every "day trips from London" list it is a popular destination. Lucky for me, it's only a 10 minute train ride away from Bristol so it is very accessible for a nice weekend away to a smaller city.
A day trip is really all the time you need to see most of Bath. It is where Jane Austin lived for some time and the home of the only Roman Baths in England. It is quintessential England: quaint, cobbled streets, washed stone facades, an impressive cathedral, and enough parks for all the picture taking you can imagine.
We spent the morning on a free walking tour of the city which was great to get some perspective on the history. We also went to the cathedral and booked a slot to go into the Roman Baths. I would highly recommend booking a day trip if you have the time and you're in close proximity!
