Travel Diaries: A day in Oxford, England
One of my favorite day trips in England so far was to Oxford, where the famous university is! I went with a friend from home which made it all the more special. It was part of another organized trip excursion but this time with a different company than I’d used before (more on the trip companies later). The trip departed from Bristol and was about a 2 hour drive to Oxford on a comfortable coach (on which we caught up on much needed sleep).
We began our day in Oxford with a quick guided tour of the small city. We gained some perspective on the history and learned all about where Harry Potter was filmed and where the inspiration from the set was from.
It really is a small city with all the main attractions confined to a really small area so it didn't take long to see everything we wanted to! Most of the sights are to do with the university and all of the notable people who have gone there and have buildings named after them. We still had a great time taking in the impressive architecture and trying to recognize where we'd seen certain things in scenes from movies. All in all, definitely a great and quick day trip from London and teaches you a lot about the history of England (and plenty of impressive pictures to show for it)!
