Travel Diaries: A day on the Gower Peninsula

I had wanted to visit Swansea and the Gower Peninsula for a long time. It's a special place to me because that's where my father studied abroad and met some of his lifelong best friends and where he fell in love with the U.K. It's a large part of the reason I decided to study abroad for a year, because he always raved about how it was the time of his life. It was made even more special because my dad's best friends took me, the friends that he'd made there.

Although Swansea got a lot of different (and unsolicited) opinions from people I told I was going, it did not disappoint me in the slightest. I'm personally always of the opinion that you can't make a judgement until you've been somewhere and now I can firmly make a fair assessment. It had beaches and hikes like I'd never seen before, it was a quaint beach/ university town. It was no wonder my dad and his friends loved it so much. We had some of the most amazing walks on the beaches and around Swansea Bay at night. There were so many other hikes to go on and nice beach walks, I could've spent a week there. I am so glad I was able to see the Gower with some very special people, I only hope that I'm able to go back with my parents someday.
